● We reported that two of the country’s retailers are routinely charging more for goods in hospital shops compared with their stores on the high street (“The great hospital shop rip-off” and “Health chiefs are told to end hospital shop rip-offs”, News, August 26 and 27). One of the retailers, Marks & Spencer, has pointed out that the high street prices we gave for two of its items were incorrect, and the quoted differentials consequently too high. A free-range egg and cress sandwich is 15 per cent higher than in town, not 42 per cent as we had stated, and in the case of the flowers we were not comparing like with like. We are happy to correct the record.
