Corbynomics

Sir, Jeremy Corbyn’s assertion that Labour lost the last election because “we were not ‘aspirational’ enough, we lost because we failed to articulate a convincing enough vision of how those aspirations would be achieved” (Opinion, Aug 28) possibly suggests that he needs a blunter approach to his electorate. I suggest he addresses this basic question: how would we pay for all these “aspirations” and also balance the country’s finances?

I would welcome his response.

Sir, Mr Corbyn writes: “A fuse has been lit and a new . . . politics has been let out of the bottle.” But surely the best way to let anything out of a bottle is not to light a fuse? Not that I am suggesting that Mr Corbyn is in any way muddled. Or confused. Or just plain dim. That would be rightwing misrepresentation and name-calling.
