Jeremy Corbyn is set to come under attack from his MPs tonight over defence, Europe and his views on prostitution when he faces questions from them for the first time this year.
There is anger that he told students last week that he was “in favour of decriminalising the sex industry”.
MPs want him to declare how many council seats he hopes to win this year amid predictions that he could be the first opposition leader since the Falklands conflict to suffer council losses.
Others want to know why he attended a rally against nuclear weapons on a day when the party was campaigning to stay in Europe. Yvette Cooper, former shadow home secretary, told Sky News: “Jeremy should be campaigning for Europe and for being in Europe. If Jeremy could concentrate on the ‘in’ arguments that would be great.”
Jess Phillips, MP for Birmingham Yardley, told The Observer that there was no chance that the party would win the next election.
