Cool reception for weather

Sir, The new BBC television weather forecasts appear to ignore the needs of the very many people who venture upon the seas and waterways in this country.

As a regular viewer I fail to receive from the forecasts any details of wind speed and direction which one used to obtain under the previous system. Since these same people often have considerable experience and knowledge of the isobaric and frontal systems which would make the forecasts more intelligible, why cannot the Met Office superimpose the latter, even faintly, on the TV charts?
