The comic book creator Mark Millar has revealed a lavish upcoming Netflix adaptation of one of his creations.
Millar, 51, from Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, said he was hugely excited about bringing Jupiter’s Legacy to a global audience of tens of millions.
Shortly before a preview trailer went live he tweeted: “Psst! Wanna see the superhero story I’ve waited my whole life to tell?”

After it received a positive response, and racked up more than one million views, he added: “Jupiter’s Legacy is a labour of love and we’re all blown away by this response today. Many thanks!”
Millar sold Millarworld, his comic book empire, to Netflix, the US-based streaming service, for almost £25 million in 2017.

The small screen adaptation stars Josh Duhamel and Leslie Bibb as two superpowered parents raising the next generation of heroes.
A synopsis for the series states: “The first generation of superheroes have kept the world safe for nearly a century. Now their children must continue their legendary ideals.”
Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s chief content officer, predicted the series, which goes live on May 7, will be a huge hit. “As creator and re-inventor of some of the most memorable stories and characters in recent history Mark is as close as you can get to a modern-day Stan Lee [the co-creator of Spider-Man],” he said.
Millar, who has also written Superman, Captain America and Wolverine comic book stories, admitted last year that he was embarrassed by his wealth.
After securing the Netflix deal he and his wife Lucy set up a charitable foundation to help the Townhead area of Coatbridge where he grew up in a Catholic, Labour-supporting household.
