Pre-dinner we recommend a Rob Roy with sweet vermouth and a dash of orange bitters. It is said to have first been served at the Waldorf Astoria in Manhattan in the 1890s; the name comes from the operetta, which was playing down the street.
King’s Inch Glasgow single malt whisky is distilled by Jack Mayo. It is aged in bourbon and oloroso sherry casks.
Ingredients
50ml King’s Inch whisky
30ml Martini Rosso/sweet vermouth
2 dashes Angostura Bitters (or orange bitters)
Maraschino cherry to garnish (optional)
Method
1. Stir all ingredients except the cherry with ice in a cocktail tin until metal is too cold to hold.
2. Double-strain into a chilled coupette.
3. For added aroma, twist orange peel over the glass to release the essential oils (then discard).
