Cardiff City supporters called for manager Lennie Lawrence to be sacked after a second home defeat inside a week. The big-spending Welsh side remain second from bottom, and the club’s owner, Sam Hammam, said that he would discuss the matter with Lawrence tomorrow. ‘The present situation is unacceptable,’ Hammam said. But he added: ‘We are not going to make the playoffs and we will not be relegated, so what is the point of making a change at the top?’ Derby ’s Marco Reich opened the scoring with a curling shot. Ian Taylor added the second after a bad Danny Gabbidon pass

Coventry City 0 Rotherham 0

Bottom club Rotherham at least ended their run of defeats, which before this match stood at five in a row in the League. But their goal drought continues. This was the sixth Championship match without any of their players even attempting to take his shirt off in celebration. Prospects are not good, as manager Ronnie Moore continues to find new players hard to come by. Chances were few and far between and Rotherham looked happy to settle for a draw from early on. Coventry had the better chances, but Michael Doyle’s deflected cross on to the visitors’ crossbar was as close as they came to a goal

Coventry: Steele, Carey, Shaw, Mills, Staunton, Barrett, Sherwood, Hughes, Doyle, Morrell, John
Rotherham: Pollitt, Stockdale, Garner, Gilchrist, Minto, Sedgwick, Swailes, Mullin, Shaw, Proctor, R Barker

Wrexham went a fourth match unbeaten with a deserved draw at Prenton Park. The match, though, ended with both sides reduced to 10 men and Wrexham manger Denis Smith sent from the dug-out. Chris Armstrong put Wrexham ahead when he fired in from Hector Sam’s pass. Gareth Roberts, Wrexham-born, equalised with a volley from a smartly taken free kick. But trouble flared 10 minutes from time when Mike Jackson threw the ball at Armstrong, who had been blocking a throw-in. Smith’s dismissal was for contesting the free kick that led to Tranmere’s equaliser

Tranmere: Achterberg, Taylor, Jackson, Sharps, Roberts, Hall, Rankine, McAteer, Goodison, Hume, Dadi
Wrexham: Dibble, Whitley, Carey, Lawrence, Pejic, Williams, Ferguson, Holt, Llewellyn, Armstrong, Sam

Wycombe 0 Swansea 1

Swansea pulled off a surprise with a win that knocked Wycombe off the top of League Two. Andy Robinson scored the decisive goal early on, but any expected comeback from the home side failed to materialise and the Swans held on comfortably. Robinson put the ball in from close range after Andy Gurney’s 25-yard free kick was parried by Frank Talia. Wycombe’s best chances came when substitute Ian Stonebridge shot wide and Stuart Nethercott also headed past the post. Gurney caused some concern when his attempted headed clearance hit his own crossbar

Wycombe: Talia, Silk, Johnson, Nethercott, Comyn-Platt, Senda, Ryan, Savage, Easton, Tyson, Birchall
Swansea: Gueret, Ricketts, Monk, Austin, Gurney, Britton, Martinez, O’Leary, Forbes, Robinson, Connor
