GRAHAM LLOYD, the former Lancashire batsman, put on an unbroken 176 in with Ian Cockbain, who played for the county from 1979 to 1983, for Bootle against Alderley Edge in the fourth round of the Cockspur Cup. They made 120 and 70 respectively to give their side an unassailable total of 246 for four.

Their opponents were dismissed for 186, Graeme Jones taking six catches behind the stumps and Ronnie Davis returning figures of three for 26. Another Lancashire cricketer, Gary Yates, bowled a miserly spell of 5-3-5-4 for Bowdon in reducing Liverpool to 86 for six. Bowdon’s had earlier made 241 for four, ensuring them a place in the last 32 through victory on a faster scoring-rate in a rain-affected match.

Teddington, for whom Paul Dancy took four for 42, dismissed Wansted for 149. Victory was achieved in 25.3 overs by nine wickets with Elliot Hill making 86 and Andrew Mawson 51 not out.

Havant’s score of 167 for eight did not appear sufficient against Bournemouth, who were 162 for seven in reply, but lost their last three wickets for no addition.
