Churchill Cup: England triumph

ENGLAND ran in five tries to defeat Argentina 45-16 in the final of the Churchill Cup in Edmonton, Canada, last night. James Simpson-Daniel, of Gloucester, and Tom Voyce, of London Wasps, scored in the first half, while Andy Goode, the Leicester fly half, had a reliable kicking game to ensure that England went in at half-time with a 15-point lead.

Voyce added a second try after the interval and Paul Sackey, the Wasps wing, and Andy Gomarsall, of Gloucester, also crossed to build up a healthy lead in front of a crowd of only 9,000 in the Commonwealth Stadium.

Despite their reputation, the Argentina pack were dominated by the England scrummaging, while the lineout showed the composure and order that the Lions had lacked on Saturday.
