Established in 2014 and based in central London, Carson Kaye Solicitors has become a well-established player in the field of serious and general crime and has developed experience in EncroChat litigation arising out of the UK’s largest ever police investigation of its kind, Operation Venetic.

The firm represents one of 13 defendants, who include James Stunt, the former husband of the heiress Petra Ecclestone, accused of being part of a £266 million money-laundering operation. In the case at Leeds crown court it is alleged that the money was laundered by the Yorkshire-based gold dealership Fowler Oldfield over a period of almost three years.

In a trial at the Old Bailey in which the wealthy businessman Jonathan Nuttall was convicted for arranging for fake bombs to be planted in one of London’s Inns of Court, the firm represented two defendants who were acquitted of involvement in the plot. The jury was told that Nuttall, 50, from Romsey in Hampshire, acted to intimidate two barristers who had previously been instructed by the National Crime Agency to investigate him and his wife over suspected money laundering.

The firm also represents a director of the film production company Prime Focus who, together with nine others, is alleged to have cheated the public revenue out of over £13 million in VAT and laundered the proceeds of criminal conduct.
