Michael Carrick, the Manchester United vice-captain, is yet to be offered a new contract and does not know if he will be at Old Trafford next season.
Carrick, who joined United in 2006 from Tottenham, is the second longest serving player in the United squad behind Wayne Rooney. The midfielder has played 28 times for Louis van Gaal’s side this season and is still a contender for the England squad for Euro 2016.
This time last year, Carrick signed a contract extension that takes him until this summer, when he turns 35, but he is in the dark over whether he is in the club’s plans for next season. “Honestly, I don’t know,” Carrick said when asked about his future after Sunday’s 3-2 win over Arsenal. “There’s no news at all. I’ve heard nothing really .”
Foreign clubs are free to speak to the England international, who has won 13 trophies since arriving from Spurs for £18 million, and Carrick has already rejected the possibility of a lucrative move to the Chinese Super League.
United will move level on points with fourth-placed Manchester City tomorrow if they beat Watford and their neighbours lose away to Liverpool.

Carrick wants his team-mates to maintain their recent good form to ensure they have a chance of finishing in the top four come the end of the season. “Results like the one against Arsenal will hopefully give us a lift and put us in a positive frame of mind,” he said.
