ADEBAYO AZEEZ’S stoppage-time goal denied Carlisle their first league win of the season. Instead, they had to share the points in a dramatic 4-4 draw with AFC Wimbledon at Brunton Park. Azeez struck three minutes into stoppage time after the home side had led 4-2 with 10 minutes to go.

It was the visitors who had gone in front after only four minutes through Sean Rigg. Kyle Dempsey headed in from close range nine minutes later to level the scores.

The Dons took the lead, with Matt Tubbs, League Two’s player of the month for August, scoring his fifth league goal of the season.

Dempsey, though, scored a second equaliser three minutes into first-half stoppage time. Josh Gillies gave Carlisle, who sacked their manager, Graham Kavanagh last week, the lead for the first time with an angled shot before Brad Potts made it four, as they headed for their first league win of the campaign. However, Gary Dicker was sent off for bringing down Tubbs, who converted the resulting spot-kick. Azeez completed Wimbledon’s comeback.

Dominic Blizzard’s second-half strike from the edge of the penalty area helped Plymouth to a 1-0 win against Luton in front of 7,864 at Kenilworth Road.

Accrington moved off the bottom after coming from behind to win for the first time this season, 3-2 against Tranmere. James Gray scored two, including an eighth-minute penalty. Abdulai Bell-Baggie had twice equalised for the visitors, Kai Naismith hit Accrington’s late winner.

York City ended a run of five straight draws in the league this season with a 3-2 win at Stevenage, who had Andrew Bond sent off. Wes Fletcher hit the first of his double after Michael Coulson had curled in an early free kick. Chris Whelpdale’s header and Tom Pett made it 2-2 before Fletcher’s penalty wrapped up the points.

Unbeaten Cheltenham went top after a 0-0 draw at Morecambe, who are second. Wycombe and Bury also shared the spoils by the same score. Shrewsbury lost for the first time in the league this season, 2-0 at Hartlepool, with Charlie Wyke and Brad Walker on target.

Exeter are bottom after losing 2-1 at home against Mansfield. Northampton continue their rise up the table after winning 2-0 at Dagenham & Redbridge. Oxford United, though, remain without a win after a 1-1 draw at Southend.
