Bennett Miller’s Capote is a somber biopic of the popular New Yorker writer as he creates one of the most unsettling documents in American history. The film encompasses a time when he pursued literary glory and flirted with moral ruin after learning about the horrific and senseless murder of a family of four in Halcomb, Kansas in 1959.
Capote is, principally, the story of a writer’s vexed, all-consuming relationship with his work, and therefore with himself. Miller’s meticulously direction offers a compelling insight into a mysterious man and the subtle nuances that make twisted brilliance tick.
