Can I fly direct to Bodrum in winter?

The Sunday Times opens its travel clinic on a daily basis to answer your holiday queries. Today: how to get to Bodrum, Turkey, in winter

I’ve been offered accommodation in Bodrum this Christmas, but am unable to find any direct flights from the UK. How can I get there? - Val Blissett, Banbury

Actually Val, there are direct flights from the UK, operated by the charter airlines. Over the summer months, you can get non-stop flights to Bodrum from 14 UK airports, and Dublin, but this drops down to just Gatwick and Manchester in the winter.

Charter Flight Centre has winter fares from £139, or for the Christmas period from about £270. Whereas it is often possible to get some excellent last minute deals on charter flights, I’d strongly recommend that you book as soon as you can, if you are planning to travel over the Christmas period.

Incidentally, the Charter Flight Centre website is a useful resource for finding out where charter flights operate to, and from which UK airports they leave. Click on ‘Flights’ and ‘Information’ for a complete list by destination country and city. Other good places to book charter flights include Flight Line and Travel Republic
