Campbell pours more into Bewley

Paddy Campbell, the former boss of Campbell Bewley, has poured €1.2m into the holding company for the chain of coffee shops.

Filings show Campbell, who now has a sculpture studio in Florence, pumped in the cash in late April.

Campbell Catering, the company he founded with Veronica, his wife, came to Bewley’s rescue in 1986. The business was bought in 2005 by Aramark. Latest Bewley accounts, for 2010, show a pre-tax profit of €1.7m on sales of €77.7m. More than half its revenue now comes from the US.
