This dazzling image of the northern lights is the result of one photographer’s obsession with the phenomenon.

Andy Keen, 44, from Powys, has spent the last three years chasing the aurora borealis. He set up the company Aurora Hunters and spends much of his time visiting Finland to photograph the lights.

Mr Keen suffers from peripheral neuropathy, a condition with symptoms similar to multiple sclerosis. His probems started when, at the age of 21, he awoke one morning to find that he was completely paralysed.

“The simple fact that I was confined to my house for so long, unable to participate in day-to-day activities meant the lights came to symbolise a sense of freedom and liberty,” he said.
