I am planning a few weeks travelling around India and need some help with booking train journeys. I have heard that buying tickets once in India is time consuming, so is there anywhere in the UK where I can book before I travel? Chris Stapleton, Plymouth

Indian Railways (www.indianrail.gov.in) has a rather temperamental website, but it is very useful in finding train names and times, and also fares.

However, your best option is to contact SDE Enterprises (0208 9033411, www.indiarail.co.uk), who are the General Sales Agents (GSA) for Indrail passes in the UK. Staff there are terrifically knowledgeable about Indian railways, and can offer sound advice on many aspects of your trip.
