Goldman appoints

Goldman Sachs named Gary Cohn, co-head of sales and trading, and Jon Winkelried, co-head of investment banking, as presidents and co-chief operating officers, while John S. Weinberg was last night appointed vice-chairman of the Wall Street bank.
Italy backs bid
The Italian Government will support the takeover of Autostrade, Italy’s toll-road operator, by Abertis, of Spain, Italy’s Infrastructure Minister said. Antonio di Pietro, previously a critic of the bid, said Autostrade’s investment programme would have to be guaranteed.
Railway may list
Deutsche Bahn, the German national rail operator, could seek a listing in 2008, according to Wolfgang Tiefensee, the German Transport Minister. He said that the company should establish itself across the world as a leader in mobility and logistics.
