Ethical M&S

Marks & Spencer is trying to attract ethically aware and health-conscious shoppers with a new advertising campaign. The retailer is highlighting how it has reduced salt and hydrogenated fats in its ready meals and sandwiches. M&S also says that it will stock T-shirts and socks made from 100 per cent Fairtrade cotton from March.

Progress on trade

Hopes rose of progress in world free trade negotiations as ministers from 30 countries meeting on the fringes of the World Economic Forum in Davos said that they had overcome some obstacles to agreement. The ministers included Peter Mandelson, Europe’s Trade Commissioner, and Rob Portman, the US Trade Representative.
