Business in Brief

Board may look at iSoft auditing

The disciplinary body for accountants will consider next week whether to investigate the auditing of iSoft, the troubled NHS IT company. The Accountancy Investigation & Discipline Board has put iSoft on the agenda for September 14, a spokesman said.

RSM Robson Rhodes audited iSoft before it was dropped by the company and replaced by Deloitte. The Financial Services Authority is already investigating iSoft.

Vertex caution

United Utilities insisted it was not certain that Vertex, its outsourcing and back office processing business, would be sold. On the day first-round bids were due in, the utilities group said that it was only considering a sale and had not committed either to keeping or disposing of the group. 3i and its Indian partner Quatras are thought to want to pay less than £400 million.
