The brother of a man who died in a fire on New Year’s Day has appeared in court charged with his murder.

Blair Logan, 26, also faces charges of assault to injury, danger to life and attempted murder at an address in Milngavie, East Dunbartonshire.

He made no plea or declaration at Dumbarton sheriff court, and was remanded in custody following the private court appearance.

Cameron Logan, 23, died in the blaze at the family home, and Rebecca Williams, his girlfriend, remains in hospital. His parents were treated for smoke inhalation.

Ms Williams, a radio journalist, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow in a critical condition and was later transferred to Glasgow Royal Infirmary, where she is now said to be stable.
