British supercar takes on Veyron

A British company is building a supercar to rival the Bugatti Veyron. Freestream’s two-seater T1 will hit 60mph in 2.5sec and boast a top speed above 200mph. Its launch is expected later this year.

The T1 has a projected price tag of £150,000, compared with the Veyron’s £810,345. Powered by a 2.4 litre supercharged V8 aluminium engine, the car is the brainchild of Graham Halstead and Ben Scott-Geddes, former McLaren employees who worked on the company’s F1 road car and the Mercedes SLR McLaren. They claim the T1’s carbon-fibre construction will make it the first car with a power-to-weight ratio of more than 1000bhp per ton. It will have all the safety systems of conventional cars.
