British bulldog wins beauty contest

A nine-month-old British bulldog has been crowned Britain’s best-looking dog. A photograph of Reggie, taken by the Dog Portrait Company at the Gateshead store of the retailer Pets at Home, which ran the contest, outshone 11,500 other dog pictures.

A spokeswoman said: “The competition took into account personalities, so it wasn ‘t just Reggie’s stunning looks that clinched it.” His owner, Gemma Henderson of South Shields, won a year’s dog food and vouchers.
