Brentford have confirmed the signing of David Beckham’s son Romeo on a loan deal until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old has joined Brentford B on loan from Inter Miami — the club co-owned by his dad, who is also the president. Romeo played 20 times for Inter Miami second team last season.
The midfielder first trained with the Brentford reserves in October and has been a regular at the club since the end of the 2022 MLS Next Pro campaign. The club confirmed the move on Friday on their website with pictures of the youngster in their red-and-white kit.
Speaking about his move Romeo said: “I’m very proud and very happy to be here.
“I came here at the start to keep fit during the off season. The chance then came to come on loan here and I’ve never been so excited. It was a fun season [in the United States] and there were a lot of ups and downs but I’m excited to come here and see what I can do.”

The Brentford B head coach Neil MacFarlane said: “We’ve been absolutely delighted with Romeo since he arrived with us.

“He came to us from Inter Miami with the aim of working with us during their close season. Romeo has applied himself unbelievably well, he’s really bought into the culture and the group which he has become a big part of. He is very technical, and he is somebody who can shift the ball quickly and cross. He is also a really good finisher and he has the ability to play a number of positions for us, which is also pleasing.
“I think it’s testament to us as a club, and as a B team, that Inter Miami have asked us to work with him and trust in us to continue working with him to help him with his development.”

Brentford B are next in action against Erith and Belvedere in the London Senior Cup on Tuesday.
Romeo, once on Arsenal’s books, can also play in defence. He is the second oldest of the four Beckham children and penned a deal with Fort Lauderdale, the reserve team of Inter Miami, in September last year. He went on to make his professional debut alongside Harvey Neville, the son of his father’s former Manchester United team-mate Phil Neville, the Inter head coach. He has also played in a friendly for Inter against Barcelona in January this year.

After his release by Arsenal in 2014, he said that he did not want to pursue a career in the game. He took up training and modelling but returned to football in 2020.
