Breaking act: Race Horses

Who are they?

An Aberystwyth four-piece, Race Horses follow last year's Man in My Mind EP with a full-length debut, Goodbye Falkenburg, that more than justifies the buzz. Shoehorning a concept about an old sea dog returning to dry land once a century to wed a virgin into a 13-track joyride through musical terrain previously staked out by the group's compatriots Super Furry Animals and Gorky's Zygotic Mynci, it hurls psychedelia, White-Album Beatles, glam-rock, electro, barbershop, tropicalia, chamber pop and post-rock into the mix. The result is a berserk and brilliant record by a band doing what they do for exactly the right reasons: they don't sound like they have a choice.

When's the record out?
