Breaking Act: Fenech Soler

Who are they?

A Cambridgeshire four-piece, Fenech-Soler have been buzzing around on the electro fringes for more than a year now, building a fan base for their perfect synth-pop. Lies, the follow-up to their superb debut single, The Cult of Romance, justifies the buzz: undeniably retro (none of their songs would have been out of place in a New York club circa 1980), the track also fits in neatly alongside the work of fellow electro wizzes such as Cut Copy and MGMT, with its thrilling tension between razor-sharp, robotic discipline and a much more strung-out, insouciant mien. The fact that Fenech-Soler are also almost offensively good-looking only adds to the impression of a band on the verge of very big things indeed.
