Breaking act: Bipolar Empire

Muscular quartet are ready to cut loose from the RTE promotional trail and establish their name as strongly as those riffs

Who are they?

Until last November, this Tallaght four-piece were largely unknown, and then one of their songs was selected by RTE’s 2fm as the soundtrack for a new promotional campaign, which is still running on Irish television. When the group performed the song, Tempomanic — a noisy pop tune distinguishable by its chorus of la-las — on the Late Late Show last month, it was a case of finally putting a name and face to the advert’s energised sample. That prime-time performance greatly helped boost Bipolar Empire’s profile. In the weekend following the appearance there were 5,000 hits on YouTube for the video of their new single, Feel That You Own It, which stars Katie Taylor, a champion boxer and fellow Tallaght resident. Comparisons are even being drawn with those British anthem-rockers Muse.

When’s the record out?

Feel That You Own It, the single, is out on April 1. The debut album of the same name follows on April 29; myspace.com/bipolarempire.
