This nine-year-old intellectual property firm has continued to expand its reputation, with two cases reaching the Supreme Court in the past year.

Brandsmiths is acting for its client against Amazon in the first case to reach the Supreme Court concerning multiterritorial “targeting” laws regarding trademark infringement. This will change the way that online enterprises trade across numerous territories and thus influence the creation of future business models.

The firm is also representing Lifestyle Equities in the Supreme Court in exploring the scope of an infringing party’s liability to account for profits, which will become the leading case on director’s liability for intellectual property infringement.

Brandsmiths continues to represent Hasbro (previously Entertainment One) in its protection of the British household name Peppa Pig relating to Wolfoo, a “lookalike” cartoon. The case seeks worldwide relief for Hasbro arising out of copyright infringement and passing off.
