The firm acted for David Gladstone, Britain’s former high commissioner to Sri Lanka and a descendant of the late-19th-century Liberal prime minister William Gladstone, in a case seeking possession of his grade I listed home near Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire. A High Court judge ordered Leigh White, a lawyer and former friend of Gladstone and his late wife to leave the property, rejecting her claim that he told her she would inherit the country mansion.

Boodle Hatfield also assisted a family office with the full spectrum of advice around the acquisition, financing and development of a landmark building in Edinburgh for the purpose of opening a new luxury lifestyle hotel in the city — the first European hotel for this global brand name.
