Sir, On Saturday evening I was pleased to take my 13-year-old twins and 17-year-old daughter to watch Casino Royale. Having witnessed explicit scenes of violence, a person drowning and various sexual advances, not to mention close-ups of extra-sloppy kissing, I wondered how on earth this film was passed by the Board of Censors as a 12A.
I wrote to my 19-year-old son and suggested that I might be rather prudish. But he replied that he and his university friends had reached the same conclusion about the latest Bond film.
Why, I ask, does our country have such a high rate of promiscuity and antisocial behaviour among its youth? Isn’t it time that the censors started to be a little less liberal in their approach and provide more safeguards for young people?
