Blackfords’ most high-profile client over the past year has been Prince Andrew. Gary Bloxsome, a partner and senior criminal specialist at the firm, has been instructed by the prince in relation to a civil action being brought in New York by Virginia Giuffre, a victim of Jeffrey Epstein’s sex-trafficking ring.

Andrew vehemently denies Giuffre’s claims that she was sexually assaulted by him. Giuffre alleges that at the age of 17 she was trafficked to Prince Andrew and forced to have sex with him at Epstein’s homes in New York and the US Virgin Islands, and once at the London home of Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s former girlfriend.

In another high-profile case, the firm represented the driver of the Croydon tram that crashed in 2016, killing seven people and injuring more than 50. Blackfords acted for him in the criminal investigation by British Transport Police, where no further action was taken, and at the inquest, where the jury returned a verdict of accidental death.

Blackfords is also instructed by a number of clients involved in the inquiry into the Grenfell Tower disaster and in the associated independent police investigations.
