Recently put out on iTunes, this is the Icelandic star’s most unguarded work — a “complete heartbreak album” in her words, which sticks to her blend of classical elegance, electronic dissonance and a vocal style separating syllables into distinct notes. In Black Lake, the centrepiece, Björk faces the reality of solitude. “My soul is torn apart, my spirit is broken,” she sings over a mournful string quartet and a series of low, rumbling noises. There are few melodies, but the music is so rich that it transports you anyway. (One Little Indian, out Mar 16)
