Ian Dungavell has been director of the Victorian Society for nine years. He is spending his birthday in Halifax, “a wonderful town for Victorian buildings”, preparing celebrations for the 150th anniversary of All Souls Church, designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott. He fears Victorian buildings are threatened in the recession: “These economic cycles are just blips in the lives of historic buildings and what seems to be an insurmountable problem can soon become perfectly possible \.” Dr Ian Dungavell is 43 today.
