The lutenist Anthony Rooley has been the artistic director of the Consort of Musicke, the early music ensemble, for 40 years and now lives in Switzerland where he runs a master’s programme. During his career he has made more than 130 recordings and appeared all over the world. He said: “After years as an itinerant musician I’ve got my first steady job, and a pension too.” Anthony Rooley is 65 today. RGT
