Bird & Bird advised Six Nations Rugby, the organising body of the Six Nations Championship and Autumn International Series, on its sale of a 14.3 per cent stake to CVC Capital Partners for £365 million. Against the backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic and its significant impact on international sport, the firm’s lawyers played a lead role in coordinating and negotiating the deal.

It has also recently been successful in representing the Finnish company Nokia as part of its global dispute with China’s Lenovo Group, the world’s biggest PC maker, concerning the infringement of video-compression patents. They settled in April and struck a cross-licensing agreement. Lenovo agreed to make a payment to Nokia, the details of which were not disclosed.
