A reality TV star who spent $100,000 on plastic surgery in a quest to resemble the singer Justin Bieber has been found dead in a motel room in California.

Tobias Strebel, 35, achieved global infamy when he appeared on Botched, a reality TV show about plastic surgery disasters. He had admitted to being fixated with altering his appearance.

“I do think I can be 100 per cent happy if I just invest more time, effort and money into the face. I’m addicted to plastic surgery,” he said last year.

Mr Strebel had been missing for ten days before his body was found in a motel in the San Fernando Valley, near Los Angeles. Drugs were said to have been found in his room. An autopsy was due to be carried out this week.

He had often spoken about his obsession with Bieber. “What brought me to Bieber was the whole package — the full cheeks, the full temples, the bright open eyes, the full luscious lips and spacial framing,” he said.
