It is a meal fit for a president: a fish supper, a deep-fried Mars bar with ice cream and raspberry sauce, all washed down with an Irn Bru.
But not, it seems for Joe Biden, because a takeaway in Glasgow, preparing what they thought was a meal for the commander in chief, was instead elaborately pranked by a local radio DJ.
Robin Galloway, who hosts the breakfast show on Pure Radio, hired security guards to pose as the secret service, covered a limo with US flags and put on dodgy American accents to pick up a chippy tea from the Blue Lagoon takeaway “on behalf of the president”.

He told the local newspaper The Courier: “This was actually a funeral car made up to look like a presidential limousine.
“The US flags were a tenner from Amazon but they did the job — even in the Glasgow wind.”

Onlookers gathered on the Glasgow streets as the car made its way to the chip shop with some speculating as to who could be inside.
Galloway had earlier rang the Queen Street restaurant claiming to be a representative from the US government and asking what dishes they’d recommend to which staff said the fish and chips in breadcrumbs and the battered Mars bar – both customer favourites.
Gianluca Varese, the director of Blue Lagoon, was fooled. He told reporters: “[I] tried to offer them a deep-fried Mars bar because that’s what the celebrities usually want to try but he said Mr Biden can’t eat stuff like that because of his stomach.
“That’s when we started to really believe it was genuine.”
Galloway also bought a steak bake in Greggs as part of the prank.

The Blue Lagoon has previously served celebrity customers, such as preparing the Canadian singer Justin Bieber a haggis supper and an Irn Bru after he had been performing in Glasgow.
