It’s Mother’s Day on March 27 and what mum wouldn’t be thrilled to receive flowers. But a grotty bunch of carnations from the petrol station simply won’t do. (Of course it won’t!) Luckily, Instagram is brimming over with stylish florists offering the most up-to-date arrangements available. Fashion favourite Sage — loved by labels including Loewe and Miu Miu — offers nationwide delivery on its covetable “peachy number” bouquet, which includes ranunculus, hermosa roses and some beautiful branches of blossom.

Meanwhile, Petalon uses blooms from its own Cornish flower farm, when in season, to create beautiful bouquets. Fringed tulips are still very much on trend and By Bloom does a gorgeous bunch for £60. To really impress your mother, why not buy a fabulous vase too. Our pick includes everything from a classic ceramic piece by Astier de Villatte to a more affordable (but just as stylish) green glass number from Arket.

1. The wild one

Cool east London florist Grace & Thorn’s USP is that every bouquet is unique. Its Burnished Blossom arrangement contains seasonal flowers in warm peach and burnt amber shades, and can be bought with or without a vase. Their bouquets are hand-delivered in the E8, E2 and N1 London postcodes and delivered via courier elsewhere in the UK. Burnished Blossom bouquet, £90 without vase; graceandthorn.com

2. The colourful one

The Starburst is a sumptuous arrangement containing a pitch-perfect combination of soft apricot and deep-red blooms. Floom delivers nationwide using independent florists from around the UK. If a local florist can’t create a particular bouquet for you, they will suggest other arrangements. A great way to support small businesses — and please your mum. Starburst bouquet, £47; floom.com

3. The classic one

Twenty pink roses? Yes please — sometimes simple is best when it comes to sending flowers, and the soft pink shades of these blooms fit the mood of the season perfectly. Pink Sweet Avalanche roses, £60 for 20 stems; flowerbx.com

4. The joyous one

Who doesn’t love a frilly parrot tulip? And the yellow and pink shades complement each other beautifully and couldn’t look more like spring. Delivery is throughout the UK — and the company also does dried flowers if you fancy an arrangement that lasts a bit longer. Happy Times bouquet, from £50; yourlondonflorist.co.uk

5. The super-pink one

Think pink! Specifically, think 50 stems of candyfloss pink fringe tulips. By Bloom’s tagline “fabulous flowers that don’t cost the earth” refers to its sustainability credentials, but is also a nod to the reasonable prices. The company ships throughout the UK. Cotton Candy pink fringe tulips, £60 for 50 stems; bybloom.co.uk

6. The retro one

McQueens Flowers has been a favourite of the fashion crowd for years, and this Colette bouquet is inspired by its senior florist’s grandmother, who had a passion for all things pastel. Think lilac tulips, ranunculus and some gorgeous Icelandic poppies. Nationwide next-day deliveries are available. Small Colette bouquet, £95; mcqueensflowers.com

7. The dramatic one

Called the Sandbanks bouquet and inspired by the seashore, expect to find blush-coloured King Pink protea flowers nestled alongside pampas grass. Ronny Colbie, formerly the lead floral designer for the Soho House Group, has set up his own studio in south London and delivers nationwide. Sandbanks bouquet, from £55; ronnycolbie.com

8. The quirky one

The style set can’t get enough of Peckham-based Sage’s unusual arrangements, and this bouquet certainly packs a visual punch with roses, ranunculus, blossom and some gorgeously sweet-scented stock. Mother’s Day arrangement, £55; sageflowers.co.uk

1o. The homegrown one

When the couple behind Petalon moved from east London to Cornwall in 2020, they wanted to make the most of the 26 acres of land they now owned. 11. The understated one

A simple cottage-garden-style bunch of buttermilk roses with lisanthus and fragrant foliage would pretty up any mantlepiece — and thrill any mother. This Marlow-based independent florist delivers nationwide. End of the Row Flowers bouquet, £45; flowerstudioshop.co.uk
