Every fortnight we’ll be rounding up the latest news from the beauty world — whether that’s the latest treatments to try, the new ingredients to look out for, or a game-changing product
Phoebe’s top pick
Aubergine eyes
Coloured mascara? Nope. I’m inky black through and through. Or so I thought before trying not brown, not navy, but . . . aubergine. Specifically, Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Push Up Lashes! in Dream Pop (£25; charlottetilbury.com).

It was a happy accident as my regular wand went Awol, but it proved a tremendously simple and subtle way to add depth and interest. 10/10 recommend.

The ingredient to know
Google searches for an ingredient you’ve never heard of have increased more than tenfold. Those in the know are seeking out chebula, an ayurvedic ingredient fêted for its antioxidant properties, which pleasingly equates to smoother, firmer, brighter-looking skin.
● Paula’s Choice Super Hydrate Overnight Mask (£29; paulaschoice.co.uk) is designed for sensitive skin. Its primary function is hydration but it also knocks back redness. It can be rinsed off or left on while you sleep.
● True Botanicals Renew Chebula Active Serum (£72; beautytheshop.com) is an ideal antidote to winter skin. A daily dose will fight dullness and help bring lift and bounce.

Say yes to a microneedling mani
A fountain of youth for your fingertips? Meet the microneedling manicure that offers all the glow-giving, skin-smoothing, youth-restoring results of your go-to facial, including a skin-nibbling peel to slough dead cells, LED therapy to tackle hyperpigmentation, and a slathering of SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic mask — a vitamin C formula that beauty editors go gaga for. The pièce de résistance, however, is microneedling, in which a roller of tiny needles (painless, I promise) is run across hands and down the fingers to stimulate the production of elastin and collagen. Exactly what makes skin appear plump and youthful. Finished with a coat of polish, it’s your regular manicure on steroids. From £85, at Young LDN, 228 Westbourne Grove, W11; youngldn.com

The new naked (lobes)
Ears adorned to the nines? The celebrity acupuncturist Ada Ooi, whose clients include the actresses Rooney Mara and Jessie Buckley, would like you to reconsider because all that metal is blocking your meridians. Referring to the ear’s more than 200 acupressure points, which correspond to various organs and body parts, she says: “Piercing causes a permanent hole that won’t introduce further stimulation, meaning that the point loses its reflex function and becomes dormant.” Her advice? Take them out! Go naked! Give the locations a massage, and stretch and rub to reactivate the auricular points.
