Few places inspire the imagination like Ibiza. Suiting everyone from hedonistic hippies to the party-all-night tribe, and from wellness-lovers to beach-seeking families, there’s a place for everyone along the rugged coastline of the White Isle.

Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to spend a small fortune to visit (although that is certainly easy to do). You can save by making simple changes such as swapping the crowds in July and August for the wildflowers of spring or the warm seas of autumn, and staying inland instead of on the beach. Here’s our pick of the best affordable hotels in Ibiza, with starting rates under £170 a night.

1. Ocean Drive Ibiza, Ibiza Town

Best for a rooftop bar

Most rooms here come with a view of the swish yachts at Marina Botafoch and Ibiza Town’s Unesco-listed Dalt Vila old quarter. Things feel effortlessly stylish thanks to art deco interiors — expect lots of monochrome marble, rich blues and retro gold lighting. Most guests end up sipping cocktails at the OD Sky Bar, where top DJs come to try out their latest tracks or host specialist music nights.

ANGEL CAMARENA

Best for value

Head to this 17-room hotel on the island’s west coast for stirring sunset views and the feeling of being miles from the action — even though it’s just a ten-minute taxi ride away. Rooms are fuss-free with white walls and pared-back decor, and the focus is on the activities and the surroundings; guests might start the day with yoga and an organic breakfast made from local ingredients, then head out to follow hiking trails or borrow one of the hotel’s bikes. You’ll want to make the most of the terrace restaurant and its resident DJ when the sky starts to turn into a sea of tangerine hues.

It’s just a short walk into town too.
