Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to spend a small fortune to visit (although that is certainly easy to do). You can save by making simple changes such as swapping the crowds in July and August for the wildflowers of spring or the warm seas of autumn, and staying inland instead of on the beach. Head to this 17-room hotel on the island’s west coast for stirring sunset views and the feeling of being miles from the action — even though it’s just a ten-minute taxi ride away. Rooms are fuss-free with white walls and pared-back decor, and the focus is on the activities and the surroundings; guests might start the day with yoga and an organic breakfast made from local ingredients, then head out to follow hiking trails or borrow one of the hotel’s bikes. You’ll want to make the most of the terrace restaurant and its resident DJ when the sky starts to turn into a sea of tangerine hues.

It’s set right on the sands of Cala Pinet and is crowned by the Rooftop Nine infinity pool and bar, which has a resident DJ and incredible sunset views. As well as sunbed and Bali beds on the rooftop, there is a second beachfront pool, a buffet restaurant and a second restaurant, La Chickeria, which serves a range of dishes that all have marinated chicken at their heart. This adult-only hotel is all about the location, set a short walk from both Ses Figueretes beach and Ibiza Town. There is a bar with a pretty shaded terrace, but you’ll probably spend most of your time relaxing in the rooftop solarium.

Everything on the breakfast menu is locally sourced and the Musset Café next door is an easy option for lunch.

This loud and proud party pad just south of San Antonio has off-the-wall, pop art-styled spaces tailored to a young, creative crowd and is located just south of the main clubs on the bay. Most of the action is around the pool with its sunshine-yellow daybeds, scarlet beanbags, hammocks and a DJ booth. Its 666 restaurant is known across the island for its its burgers and the hotel is always hosting some sort of music event — everything from acoustic sets to house nights.

You’ll find plenty of quaint touches at this sprawling, 200-year-old farmhouse in the north of the island including a vegetable garden and a neighbouring farm where guests are welcome to meet the animals. Hiking and cycling routes fan out from the sprawling property, which puts you in a prime position to explore the foothills of the Puig des Fornas mountains. The restaurant champions local produce with a menu that has lots of vegetarian options and there’s a pretty, plant-filled terrace that opens out to the pool area.
