Enhances your natural lip colour without the feeling of painting over them with an alien shade. For anyone nervous about wearing lipstick rather than balm, this is a great choice.

They say: Combines the look of a classic matte lip with incredible wearability. Creamy and moisturising, it glides on comfortably and feels light-as-air. It also lasts for 8 hours. We’re pretty sure you’ll want more than one colour.
We say: Loved the creamy texture of this very slim stick; it fits into the smallest of clutch bags. I found that the pink nude shade really suited my colouring, and it was the perfect colour to wear throughout the day and into the evening. For a supposedly matte effect stick, I found it quite moist.

They say: Shimmering nudes with lustrous colour, the fresh tones a flattering soft pearlescent, and enriched with honey nectar for a luscious feel.
We say: This wasn’t really the correct shade to give a “rosebud lip” look; it’s a touch too pale. I didn’t find the formula very moisturising; it was a little dry. On young plump lips it could be attractive, but for older smoochers I would recommend Boots No7 to get a similarly priced lipstick with a softer texture.

We say: Charlotte Tilbury’s makeup is the most beautiful stuff: the packaging can’t be beaten. Bit of a strange name for a shade that is so neutral, but it’s a great colour for making you look a bit more made-up than usual, without screaming that you’re wearing lipstick.

We say: I always find that matte lipsticks need touching up more than glossier colours, but if you’re looking for a truly matte finish, then this is a great one. The square case feels luxurious and the stick has a flat top which I find easier to apply precisely than a pointed bullet.

We say: This is an expensive lippie, but I can see why — the case is luxurious and the colour glides on smoothly. I wouldn’t say it lasted six hours, but it did feel comfortable for a good few hours without any touch-ups. A good one to splurge on. The darker shades are really enticing too.
