The firm acted for a highly regarded insolvency practice in the successful defence of a £80 million claim for the allegedly negligent sale at an undervalue of a well-known football club and related assets. The decision in the case was significant for court-appointed receivers, trustees and insolvency office-holders in providing guidance as to the extent to which they may be insulated from subsequent claims seeking to challenge the reasonableness of a strategy that has received the court’s prior approval.
Its lawyers are also defending a global engineering firm in relation to a claim for more than £50 million for negligence arising from its role in the construction of a mixed use high-rise commercial and residential development in the UK.
