From its foundation in 1949, Baker McKenzie, headquartered in Chicago, has grown to become one of the world’s biggest law firms.
Over the past year it has acted as international counsel to Emerson Electric Co on the sale of the majority stake in its climate technologies business to private equity funds managed by Blackstone, in a transaction valuing the business at $14 billion.
It advised Sika, a Swiss global construction chemicals group, on the successful €5.3 billion acquisition of the Master Builder Construction Chemicals (MBCC) Group from Lone Star.
The firm acted for Oceans Finance Company in its role as project manager to structure, implement and oversee the government of Ecuador’s record $1.6 billion debt-for-nature swap. The transaction will provide more than $300 million for independently managed marine conservation around the Galapagos Islands over the next 18 years.
