Sir, We thank Matthew Parris for his comments (My Week, Jan 14), but note one inaccuracy. He refers to “cravat-wearing” in the plural.

Obviously, at any one meeting of CU Conservative Association, only one person should ever wear a cravat to avoid ostentation.
