For 50 years Anthony Collins has advised individuals, local authorities, public-sector bodies, businesses, charities and other not-for-profit organisations throughout the UK from its offices in Birmingham, Manchester and Macclesfield.
The Charity Commission appointed the firm as interim managers of the charity Care4Calais to conduct a review of its governance, administration and decision-making.
In August 2023 an inquiry report from the Charity Commission found that former trustees of Care4Calais were responsible for several instances of misconduct and mismanagement. However, the commission chairman noted that improvements made throughout the inquiry were “not least thanks to the work of the interim manager and new leadership”.
The firm secured support and rehabilitation for seriously injured clients, recovering in excess of £33 million in compensation over the previous year. This included one case where the claimant suffered a brain injury, resulting in an award of damages of more than £18 million, dependent on the client’s life expectancy.

Anthony Collins also acted for Cumbria county council, which was dissolved and replaced by two unitary councils. Each council wanted its own services and were advised on splitting existing contracts for countywide services such as social care, public health and highways, ensuring that there was no disruption.
