Thankgiving Service

Professor Sir Colin St John Wilson, RA

The Duke of Gloucester attended a thanksgiving service and evensong to celebrate the life of Professor Sir Colin St John Wilson, held yesterday in Chichester Cathedral.

The Very Rev Nicholas Frayling, Dean of Chichester Cathedral, officiated and preached the homily, assisted by the Rev Dr Anders Bergquist, vicar of St John’s Wood.

M. J. Long (Lady Wilson), widow, and Miss Sal Wilson, daughter, read the lessons.

Mr Stefan van Raay, director, Pallant House Gallery, paid tribute.

Among others present were: Mr Harry Wilson (son) and other members of the family.

Major J.A. Robinson, Squadron Commander, presided at the annual dinner of the Signal Squadron, HAC, held last night at Armoury House. The principal guest was Brigadier E. M. Flint ADC Late R SIGNALS and Second Lieutenant C. M. J. McAulay also spoke.

Manchester and Salford Universities Air Squadron Air Commodore C. Dixon, director of equipment Capabilities (EWC Air & Littoral Manoeuvre), Whitehall, London, was the guest of honour at the annual dinner of the Manchester and Salford Universities Air Squadron held last night in the Officers’ Mess at RAF Woodvale. Squadron Leader J. C. M. Davenhill presided.
