THANKSGIVING SERVICE

Christopher Bacon

A service of thanksgiving for the life and work of Christopher Bacon, Headmaster of Dean Close School, Cheltenham, 1979-98, will be held in the School Chapel at noon on Saturday, September 17, conducted by The Bishop of Tewkesbury. Followed by a buffet lunch in The Bacon Theatre.

British Nuclear Energy Society

Dr S.I. Ion, President of the British Nuclear Energy Society, was the host at a reception held last night in London to launch the establishment of the BNES/Joan Pye Education and Training Fund. Miss Joan Pye was among other distinguished guests.

Royal Geographical Society

Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, attended a dinner hosted by the Royal Geographical Society and Mr Neville Shulman, on Monday at Just St James to mark Mr Nigel Winsers’ long service to the Society. Dr Rita Gardner, Director of the Society, presented Mr Winser with an inscribed antique Tibetan box. The Earl of Cranbrook, Sir Neil Cossons, Sir Christopher and Lady Ondaatje and Dr John Hemming were also present.
