Andy Murray’s decision to pull out of tie is one off, says Lloyd

Andy Murray, the British No 1, has reassured John Lloyd, the Davis Cup captain, that his decision to miss this weekend’s World Group tie against Argentina in Buenos Aires is a one-off. In Murray’s absence – criticised by Jamie, his elder brother – Jamie Baker and Alex Bogdanovic will play in today’s opening singles against David Nalbandian and Agustin Calleri respectively.

“I’ve spoken to Andy and we had a good chat,” Lloyd said. “He said it’s a one-off and he’s available for our next match, which is great news.”

Murray has confirmed that he will be available for a quarter-final in April if Great Britain upset the odds and beat Argentina, or a play-off in September if they lose. “I told him I was sorry for him because this will be a great occasion whatever happens and told him I felt he had the ability to win both matches,” Lloyd said.
