When discussing Britain’s sporting prowess, we should not forget that some of our ladies’ teams are the best in the world

Sir, Your leading article (“Sporting Chance”, July 2) on Britain’s sporting prowess failed to mention the England women’s cricket team (2009 World Cup champions and T20 champions), the England women’s rugby union team (2011 Six Nations Grand Slam champions and 2010 World Cup runners-up) or Jessica Ennis (current European and World heptathlon champion) — surely all support your argument that our sporting achievements are not that bad after all.
