ALEXANDROVA, winner of the Vodafone Oaks at Epsom and the Irish equivalent at the Curragh, heads 13 confirmed entries for the Darley Yorkshire Oaks at York on Wednesday.
Aidan O’Brien’s filly is the leading attraction in a race that could see Sir Michael Stoute run Allegretto, the Lancashire Oaks winner, and Short Skirt, conqueror of Alexandrova in the Musidora Stakes in May. Stoute has saddled four of the past six winners of the event.
Valfredo Valiani, the Italian trainer who sprang a 25-1 shock in the race with Super Tassa in 2001, has entered Exhibit One, while French hopes lie with Montare and Shamdala.
